Wanslie's Reminder

It sits in a silver frame upon shelf - -
A picture of beautiful Wanslie - -
Of her, youthful and healthy.
This is the image she'd have us to see.

She brought the picture at her last visit.
It speaks to us frequently with its view - -
Remember me, my life's passions, my love,
After, this cancer, I've passed through.

Remember - - I enjoyed my family & children - -
So many things we were blessed to do.
Remember how I enjoyed my labors
In putting up a good supply of food.

Remember the good times, not the bad;
Remember my living, not my death;
Remember my strength, not my weakness;
Remember my joy, not labored breath!

Remember my light, our laughter, and fun.
Remember - - graciously, GOD provides!
Remember how I embraced my loved ones.
Cancer was powerless, my spirit to hide!

Remember, GOD WHO gave me life
Saw fit to heal me in His own way - -
In lifting me from all pain and sorrow.
That you be comforted, I surely prayed!

This is from my perspective and in memory of my beautiful
sister-in-law, Wanslie Fullbright. We hold such sweet memories of her.
Love lives on - - it cannot be erased by death!

With love!

By the mercies of God,

Blessings during Winter Storm

Good time of year for cocoa - lots!
Time to keep a log on fire;
Time for wearing heavy wraps;
Time, with children, to conspire

On how-to build a "chair-choo-train"
Or a quick, indoor, fake tent
With a sheet used as its tarp
So little ones can play therein.

Quilts and blankets on the floor,
Where children can play all snug - -
As winds blast about outside,
They'll need a warm comfort rug.

Time for patience - - loads of it!
Time, perhaps, for outdoor grill,
If need be, to heat some food.
A weather adventure if you will!

Time for steaming coffee, perhaps - -
Specially for workmen near - -
For those working out in the ice,
As they labor, power lines, to clear.

Thinking of the inconveniences and struggles so many face in winter storms. Praying the LORD will keep you safe and warm and well fed - -Winter blessings! Hoping those snow and ice storms soon abate.

By the mercies of God,

Love Lives On

Remember the love and laughter shared;
Though a dear one's gone, love lives on.
It lives in your heart and touches your mind,
Comforting, like a sweet, sweet song.

Memories should be held and embraced - -
The sparkle of eyes, the tilt of head,
The joyful voice, the warmth of touch,
Times in which your heart was fed.

Remember, and rest. Perfect Day comes,
When all GOD's children, together, shall meet - -
Separated no more, ne'er again to sorrow.
Awaiting is joy in Heaven-sweet!

By the mercies of God,

Magnolia

Dark shining green, like fine leather,
Adorns the face of every leaf;
Sueded, soft brown is the lining
For each one - - underneath.

Magnolia - unique Southern lady
Stands before wealthy and poor,
Quietly biding Winter's harshness,
Her roots and grounding, sure.

O but her flowers! Lovely flowers,
Like big white bows shall adorn her well
After Spring returns again,
Her loveliest graces to tell.

By the mercies of God,

All Glory to GOD!

Is the glory of day's breaking - -
In the sun or of its chasing?
Is it in meadows appearing
Or, perhaps, in sky's clearing?

Is the glory found in trees?
Is it swept along in breeze?
Does it on mountaintop appear?
Is it widespread, far and near?

Is it in the frothing waves?
Is it in the fire's bright blaze?
Is it with tiny newborn?
Is it in some pathway worn?

What is glory? What, its center?
Is it something one could enter?
Are its beams as light o'erflowing,
From the LORD WHO is all knowing?

Never slacking, glory is of HIM - -
Shining out and back again - -
Always pointing unto GOD
Ever-present / absent-not.

GOD's Glory! Yes, surely it's seen
Filling Heaven and earth and all between,
Calling forth praises unto the Name
Of HIM all-glorious, forever-the-same!

By the mercies of God,

From the Seed

Study the root, the trunk, the branch,
The bark, the twig, the leaf.
Study the sapways - - how they run - -
And tree rings that we may see - -

All this from a fallen seed
That rested on leaves or beneath;
Then, was given roots into earth
And rapid growth of stem and leaf.

Study the mere seed's appearance - -
No liveliness on its outside - -
Just a hard and dry-shelled thing - -
Something that could've died.

Some seeds die; some can't survive.
Many are eaten by living things.
Yet, there sprout oaks and pines - -
No coincidence by any means!

Study life and WHO holds it - -
WHO gives it, maintains, owns it!
Enjoy the pleasant leafy shade,
Considering what GOD has made!

By the mercies of God,

In Time's Frame

Some greatly lament at growing old.
And, some think they hold control;
But..... I find I've never owned it - -
I'm but a mortal - - it cannot fit!

Is it me, so slow, and still slowing?
O yes it's me! and, time keeps going,
Whirling, spinning - - of GOD's control.
None but GOD touches its wheels that roll.

Though we're in time's frame for a while,
Waste not hours, though morrows beguile.
For, soon shall come the dark, dark night;
When, upon wings, our spirits will take flight!

By the mercies of God,

Great Blessings Flow

If GOD WHO is LIFE should remove - -
There'd be no hope for us at all!
If HE had no love for us,
We'd forever be cursed - - in eternal fall!

But The GOD of LOVE is merciful, kind!
HE watches over us with care;
HE tenderly guards, guides, and shields.
HE forsakes us not! HE's everywhere!

HE waters the thirsting ground betimes;
HE blesses seed to bountifully grow;
HE warms the earth - - HE gives sunlight;
And, from His Hand - - great blessings flow!

By the mercies of God,

Enwrapt in Comforts

Thick, the mists of this morning;
Fine is the slow-falling rain;
Heavy - - the evergreens' branches,
Cumbered by ice once again.

Humid, fresh - - the air I'm breathing;
There's a chill in the dampness outside;
Yet, we're warm and safe at home today - -
Comforted with heat of fireside.

What weather have you where you live?
Are skies cloudless - - a clear, brightest blue?
Is it snowing? is there Wintertime harshness;
Are its winds cavorting around you?

Wintertime here? Well, I find I like it - -
I liked seeing the powdery snow fall;
I'm blessed with haven from the cold - -
I enjoy home's comforts most of all.

During Winter, how greatly GOD blesses!
Of gifts HE gives, I can scarcely begin.
Greatest of all is His Love - enwrapping!
So, heart, thank HIM again and again!

By the mercies of God,

Praise with Lively Hearts!

Not as slothful ones, not as all-weary,
But with lively hearts, praise the LORD!
Not as mute and empty vessels,
But, yielding sincere thanks to GOD!

Confessing our weaknesses unto HIM
WHO is forever able, let us turn,
Knowing there's no life at all without HIM - -
And, that this, by enlightenment, we discern.

Humbly, humbly! Seek the LORD,
Knowing -- it's wholly by HIS mercies we stand!
For, if HE - the Spirit of Life, depart from us,
We'd be lifeless, stone cold, weak as sand!

Yes, rejoice - - HE's the Breath of Life within us!
Praise HIM - HOLY Manna to our souls!
Drink of the Fountain of Life freely!
Praise GOD Whose presence consoles!

By the mercies of God,

Embraced in GOD's Care

Do you feel in heart to be cocooned - -
Held tenderly, as in softest down;
Protected - - in the unshakeable Covert;
On the Rock immoveable, on solid ground?

Is your hunger satiated? Your thirst, quenched?
Are you warmed in this cold, cruel world?
Are you borne along and past life's storms,
While battles rage and arrows are hurled?

Are you uplifted - - and, that, not of yourself?
Blessed, with comforts beyond compare - -
Peace and assurance, hope and trust?
If so, you're embraced in GOD's care!

By the mercies of God,

Look Beyond Burdens

Look past your heartaches;
Look past your troubles;
Look past your trials and pain;
Look past the bad news - -
Beyond hardship mountains - -
Dear child, you'll know joys again!

See - -The LIGHT's shining!
GOD's LOVE's ever shining!
HIS promises ring always true - -
That HE shall never, O never, leave you!
HE promised HE'd ne'er forsake you!

Have you read of GOD's calling - -
To HIS dear children, calling - -
"Come unto ME ......... I'll give you rest"?
Then, rush with your burdens
To HIS Throne of Grace;
And, there, your every need, confess!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
HOLY BIBLE, KJV, Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Captured by the Moon
Beautiful, the globe, there beyond branches,
Hanging, shining, in the northwestern sky.
So soft is the light from its spectrum;
How it graces the landscape, from on high!
It appears full - - the moon at this hour,
A lovely vision that caught me unaware.
Inside with lights on, oblivious to the sky,
I was snapped to attention - - seeing it there.
Just yesterday, our little Joseph had said,
As we were riding along in my van,
"Ook, Mah, Mah! Clouds!" -- he exclaimed,
His excitement punctuated by a grin.
"Ook, Mah Mah - - moon!" he'd also said
A few evenings ago, while staring at clouds,
So happy when the moon shone through,
Declaring his sightings out loud.
I considered, then, the joy of children - -
How their hearts soar at wonders of GOD.
Must I be captured to notice the moon
With more than a dull-hearted nod?
I should take a lesson from little children
In not letting life's joys slip away,
Holding GOD's wonders new and shining,
Making life an adventure every day!
By the mercies of God,
By faith, we see HIM
Through faith, we have glimpses of GOD WHO has no beginning and no end.
By faith, we see HIM - - In HIS HOLY WORD - - The I AM THAT I AM,
Creating earth, its mountains, valleys, plains, seas, plants;
and creating the heavens - - sun, moon, stars, planets, galaxies;
HIS Spirit moving upon the waters;
Speaking "Let there be light" and it was so;
Dividing light from darkness;
Naming Day and Night;
Creating animals, fishes of the sea, fowls of the air;
Creating Adam from dust of the earth -- breathing life into him;
Creating Eve from a rib of Adam;
GOD in the Garden of Eden - - walking, talking with man;
Casting man from Eden;
With Moses in the ark in bulrushes by the river's brink;
Speaking to Moses from the burning bush;
In a cloud, leading the Israelites by day;
In a pillar of fire, leading them by night;
Speaking from a thick cloud on Mt. Sinai;
And, HIS glory - - like devouring fire - - on the Mount;
GOD, rolling back the sea for the Israelites;
GOD, defeating the Egyptians;
GOD, the Strength of the staff of Moses;
GOD, surrounding, protecting Noah's family in the ark through the flood;
In the Ark of the Covenant;
In the tabernacle of the congregation;
In the Holy of Holies;
The Victor/the Overcomer for His people;
LIFE;
LIGHT;
The WAY that is true; TRUTH that is The WAY;
The First and the Last -- Alpha and Omega -- The Beginning and the End;
Eternal ONE! - -
The Three in ONE GOD;
HE WHO formed the clouds - - WHO walks on the wings of the storm;
HE WHO walks upon water;
HE WHO is Living Water, Eternal Spring;
The Living WORD;
Jehovah;
Wonderful;
KING of kings;
LORD of lords;
Savior!
Friend - closer than a brother;
Guide, Guard, Shield, and Buckler;
Hightower;
Rock of Ages;
The Bright and Morning Star;
The Lily of the Valley;
Holy Manna;
Sustainer;
Hope;
Peace;
Root and Offspring of David [HOLY BIBLE, KJV, Revelation 22:16
I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches.
I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.]
With David when he slew the Philistine;
Wisdom of Solomon;
Strength of Sampson - -
Strength to all;
HIM WHO is Righteousness;
Speaking to Samuel;
With Jonah in the great fish;
Deliverer!
GOD of Elijah and Elisha;
GOD of Abraham and Sarah;
GOD of Isaac; GOD of Jacob;
GOD of Joseph and his family;
GOD of Lot;
GOD of Hannah;
GOD of Naomi and Ruth;
GOD of Jeremiah and Ezekiel ;
GOD of Joseph and Mary;
GOD of Zacharias, Elisabeth, & John;
GOD of Lazarus, Mary, & Martha;
GOD of the woman at the well;
GOD of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John;
GOD of Peter, Paul, Timothy, Stephen, and Philip
GOD of innumerable hosts;
GOD of Heaven;
The FATHER of Jesus;
GOD of prophets, disciples, and the apostles;
GOD of Jews; GOD of Gentiles;
GOD over all nations, tongues, and peoples;
GOD over everything;
GOD The Son - - the Babe in the manger;
Jesus, feeding the multitude, multiplying loaves and fishes;
Jesus, turning water into wine;
Jesus, teaching, ever glorifying HIS FATHER;
Jesus, healing the sick, giving sight to the blind;
Jesus, suffering, bleeding, dying on the cross at Calvary;
Jesus' body being placed/secured/guarded in the tomb;
Jesus' garments laid aside and the tomb empty;
Jesus, alive again, walking and talking with disciples on the road to Emmaus;
Jesus ascending, victorious, returning to the FATHER;
The Holy Spirit, descending like a dove;
The Holy Spirit filling/overflowing the temple;
Holy Spirit, dwelling in hearts;
Everywhere present, nowhere absent - - Omnipresent GOD - -
Omnipotent;
Omnificent;
Omniscient;
With voice as of many waters, or thundering;
HIM with still small voice;
GOD - - Calling;
Drawing;
Sending;
Commanding;
Supplying;
Rewarding;
Forgiving;
Merciful;
With loving kindnesses;
The Bread of Life;
Redeemer;
HIM -- in WHOM is no darkness nor shadow of turning;
HIM WHO cannot lie
.................
We see GOD throughout His WORD, in Creation, in Life; as LIGHT!, TRUTH, The WAY, LOVE, Righteousness, as Strength, Hope, the complete, perfect Sacrifice, the dying Lamb of Calvary, Risen Lord - - Conqueror of sin, death, and the grave; Savior of every child of GOD, the Holy Spirit WHO comforts and dwells within. Who could describe GOD? Who, number His wondrous works and ways, mercies, lovingkindnesses? None compare to HIM. The heavens can't contain His glory; there's not enough space! deepest seas can't hide it; no mortal can plumb, perceive, nor write all the depths and fullness of GOD! The half has never yet been told!
[My thought is that but a tiny drop in the bucket has been told.]
What praise can touch His glory? This listing is but a small reminder of the greatness and wonders of the unexcelled, unparalleled, inexhaustible, eternal GOD of LOVE.
We're so greatly privileged to read and hear of HIM and to know HIS NAME!
May we ever rejoice in HIM!
Winter's Trumpeting
No crickets chirping; no owl disturbing - -
Long gone, the sounds of Summer's tune!
But, whoo! whooshing! Winds are pushing
And likely to clear the skies before noon!
Winter's trumpeting and its harshness
Keep us, like the critters, in places warm.
Wildlings have dens; we're snug in houses,
Enjoying heat and soup during storm.
Howling winds rise; then, fade and fall,
Only to return to their trumpets again - -
These, the sounds of Winter's blast;
While, crackling fires lend comfort to men.
Rain's Exit
We had rain - - torrents of rain!
Creeks were swollen; toppled - - a few trees,
Loosed from their loamy tethers.
Hollows held great spreading streams.
Now, winds - - strong coursing winds
Roar 'cross mountain peak and range,
'Cross the lakes and creeks and hills;
And, batter at every leaf that hangs.
Clearing winds snatch mists away;
As, down plummets the mercury mark.
Quite a change in the weather
Started as we still slept in the dark.
So thankful that GOD sent rain;
and, that HE clears the skies again!
Enshrouded Night
I saw the moon through bluish mists,
The only thing visible in the sky - -
And, that, not clearly; for, but a hint
Of its light pierced the fog, from on high.
I'd been navigating pea-soup shroud - -
The heaviest I'd seen in some time.
Visibility, poor; I'd near' stopped at times
To be sure I was seeing road and signs.
Only halos of light could be seen on lamp poles.
I'd viewed beautiful ethereal scenes.
Town's Christmas displays had changed - -
Softer, breathtaking, unreal - - like a dream.
I'd seen outlines of great gnarled trees;
Houses had slowly emerged from the mists;
Yet, the road's center line led on before me - -
What would I have done without it!
I'd taken, tortoise speed, the sharp bends,
And crept down familiar mountain road.
Never more welcoming, the lights of home!
Safe, still! - - again! by mercies of GOD!
Loads of Benefits
GOD loads us daily with benefits
And crowns the year with HIS own good!
How could we possibly thank HIM enough?
How, praise HIM as we should?
Think of wondrous comforts found
In and of works of our Lord.
Great blessedness is ours through Christ -
LOVE's expression - the Living Word.
Peace, hope, joy, love, and strength;
Food, drink, shelter, and clothes;
GOD's Kingdom on earth and HIS church;
The Throne of Grace; deliverance from woes;
Truth; being righteous in and of Christ;
Blessings of loved ones - - family, friends;
The sun shining / rains falling upon all - -
Innumerable benefits, GOD daily/yearly sends!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

HOLY BIBLE, KJV - - Psalms 68:19 Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah. Psalms 65:11 Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; and thy paths drop fatness. Psalms 117:1-2 "1 O praise the LORD, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people. 2 For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endureth for ever. Praise ye the LORD."
